My Journal Rules
© 1997 by Doug Franklin

First off: these rules are my general guidelines, and I will violate and/or change them whenever I please. Generally, I've kept these rules in my head, and changed them whenever it seemed appropriate. A couple have been forced on me by outside influences. Karen is, of course, the most influential force in my life, followed immediately by my work. Everybody I come in contact with is an influence... but I don't let them tell me what to write. The part of my life that is private... isn't, as far as this journal is concerned. The part of my private life that I share with Karen is a different story. If she doesn't want me to talk about something here, well, I won't talk about it. It's her life too.

What I write about my work at my medical jobs is guided by medical ethics. I can talk about things in general, but I can't mention someone in such a way that anyone might be able to figger out who they were. I know that there are several people from Topeka who read this, and more that a few of my co-workers, so I gotta be especially careful here.

OK, here they are:

  1. Personal Finances.
  2. Sex. (my call, not Karen's)
  3. Patients.
  4. Other Journalers in a negative way. If I don't have anything good to say, I'll stay shut up. Unless they really, really piss me off or attack me personally (or Karen, or any of my kids or grandkids!) Then they've had it.
  5. I will not knowingly lie about anything in this journal.
  6. I will try to be well-informed about what I write.
  7. I will accept feedback and criticism in the vein in which it is delivered. I may not be happy about it, but I will endeavor to be civil. Criticism has a way of influencing growth.
  8. I will link to other journalers as I see fit. I'll try not to make a habit of it, though.
  9. Anything that I write stays as written. Of course, I reserve the right to correct spelling errors, URL errors and updates, and HTML errors... the things that make me look like a computer fool. But the real things that make me look like a fool stay... partly to remind me that I'm not perfect.

These rules may change from time to time. Whenever I want them to, as a matter of fact. I'm sure that this list is incomplete as written now (10 SEP 1996) and there will be additions.

Thanx for being here!
Doug
