HA!

Once again, I sucked you in. You just never learn, do you?

Where to find love! Why! *snicker snicker* Suckers, suckers, suckers!

Love on the internet, on the WWW! Right! If I could write how-to books and could market them on the net, I'd do it. Lotsa people are doing it. Making money, too, probably. But I'm not smart enough to do that.

So, what else is the 'net good for? A rhetorical question, eternally asked. I have an eternal answer. To Play in. To Have FUN in. Yeah, there are a few people who are making tons of money here. They're not giving anything away free. But I am, and so are you, probably. We're having fun, right?

My brother Jon is a big-shot writer. No, he's really a big shot. He's got these two pulitzer prize thingies... anyways, he and I were talking several years ago about the quality of writing that was then and would be available on the net. I expressed the opinion that everybody and his brother would be out there clamoring for your ear, figuratively speaking. That this is the ultimate vanity press, and that there would be good stuff and bad stuff out here. All for free. Well, brother Jon is starting a web-site soon that will be a pay-per-read journalism place. He has some of the best journalists in the world lined up to contribute. It will be the ultimate in delivery systems, with micro-billing and stuff like that. Or maybe a subscription, it's not been decided yet.

But the main point is, these are not amateurs. These are the people who write for the most prestigious magazines and newspapers in the world, people who have multiple best-sellers. People who get top dollar from everyone that they write for. Magicians with words.

Not for free.

And I really hope that it works. I hope that brother Jon makes a fortune on it, and that all of his writers do, too. It will give younger writers something to strive for; there might not be too much else out there for them.

I like free stuff. I write free stuff, 'cause that's what it's worth. I haven't devoted my life to writing, studied the science, figgered it all out. I don't have a style, and there's no way I could earn a dollar writing, on the net or anywhere else.

And I'M gonna compete with these guys? I don't think so. But I will probably read their stuff. A lot. Because good writing means a lot to me. It's something that I really enjoy. It's something that I'm willing to pay for. And will. And they can read my stuff, too. For free.

But I'm not giving up my place on the web, either. I have too much fun here.

Stay tuned for the opening announcement! It'll be right here!
