Smoking

I've been a smoker since I started high school, umpteen years ago. I've been trying to quit since before I had my first myocardial infarction (Heart Attack) in 1989. I've been through every program in town, with some being slightly more effective than others, but none really working. I've tried hypnosis to no avail. I've tried patches, tranquilizers & other drugs & combinations of drugs. I've been to counseling. Everyone that I know rags on me constantly to quit.

I talk to a lot of people with lung & heart problems in my line of work, and I've been doing a survey for the last five years. I ask my patient if they smoke. If they say "no, I quit" I ask them how. Invariably, their reply is "I just put them down one day, and that was that!"

Absolutely no clue whatsoever.

I keep waiting for the day I can say that, but my fear is that I will continue smoking until they make tobacco illegal( I would never do anything illegal!) or they put me in a box.

If you can help me with this problem, or just want to tell me how you or a friend quit, drop me a line @ nilknarf@nilknarf.net. Thanx for your input!
