I'm not a mirror for your mind

Written in 1993

I'm not a mirror for your mind
I'm not the answer to your hopes and dreams;
I'm just a man
In this broken land
With my hands
In the pockets of my jeans

So just let me be myself
And I'll let you be what you need to be
And if you let me love you now, and forever
I'll always be here when you need me.

So just lay back and rest your head
Dissolve those doubts of me you've saved
Think of the love that we have, instead
And Don't let your tears wash it away.

I can't be less or more than myself
And I'm given to mistakes and sometimes sins
But please don't lock your heart to me
Please don't let our love end.

I want so much to be your perfect man
And I try as hard as I can every day
And there are days that I come real close
And there are weeks that it slips away.
