Our Tenth Anniversary

The Diamond.
Hard.
Hard, to cut glass.
Hard, to survive, to endure.
Hard, like our love
To see us through these ten years.

The Diamond.
Beautiful.
Beautiful, clear, precisely cut.
Beautiful, to make men’s hearts race.
Beautiful, to make women’s hearts melt.
Beautiful, like our love
That has shown so brilliantly
These last ten years.

Gold.
Soft.
Soft, lustrous, malleable.
Soft, to fit around the hard things.
Soft, to keep the beauty intact from the hard blows.
Soft, to be next to the skin and to protect.
Soft, like our love
To protect us these ten years.

Forever.
Infinite.
Infinite, no end.
Infinite, eternal, incomprehensible.
Infinite, to signify the depth.
Infinite, like our love
To last well beyond these ten years.

Our love:
Hard, when it has to be.
Beautiful, because it is.
Beautiful, because we make it that way.
Soft, whenever it can be.
Soft, because it should be, between a man and a woman.

Forever;
Because we have the strength together
Forever:
Because you are who you are, and I am who I am.
And we together are something else again.
We will love each other forever.
Forever.
