The evenings linger

and the nights last forever

yet our lives so short…

clouds from my driveway

out the window on I-470 2

Nice day… I got some good sleep anyway. I got a new contour pillow when we were at Sam’s yesterday and I really like it. Just wish that it was longer… my head falls off of it.

Jean was up earlier than I was, 09:00 or something. She went to Manhattan to get her fingers and toes done for her Las Vegas trip & then she had lunch with Moira. She got back home around 17:00.

I, on the other hand, slept until noon, got up and had breakfast and went to Walgreens to get some prescription refills. I also got a three muscateer candy bar, a small one. Mistake, of course. Two hours later my BS was still 311.

I’m really wanting to go to Joe’s funeral, but I’m having second thoughts… Jean is leaving the next morning for ArKansas and Las Vegas, and I don’t want to mess her up, but I’m pretty sure that she’s not gonna let me go by myself.

I did, however, get Joe’s mothers’ phone number, and I’ll call her tomorrow.

The clouds were about right for a sunset, and we started off about 17:30 to get out to the hill… sunset was 18:03.

But when I stepped out of the door there was a glorious cloud formation to the west, so I got a few images… then I rolled the window down and got some more while driving on I-470. Yeah, I’m that coordinated.

After that, it was a pretty disappointing sunset… the clouds were mostly in the wrong places.

But the geese were pretty active, although their flight paths were more to the west than usual. Since they seem to just be flying around for exercise (or to show off) I have no idea why that should be. They’re all local flocks, I’m sure.

We stopped and got a sandwich at Jimmy Johns’ on the way back… wasn’t very good, but adequate. I’d willingly drive ten more miles and get a Subway.

If you watch commercial TV… there’s an ad on for people who owe the IRS money, and these folks negotiate with the IRS for you, and it shows people saying, “I owed the IRS $52,000 and only had to pay $8,000!” and I wanna say, “yeah, and you owe me $44,000, tax dodger!”

Several commercials have the same effect on me, but I won’t go into details, it would get boring.

I think that I’m ready to declare that I’m completely recovered from my November-January illness… I’m really feeling pretty good.

“Millions of innocent men, women, and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined, and imprisoned, yet we have not advanced one inch toward uniformity. What has been the effect of coercion? To make one half of the world fools and the other half hypocrites.” – Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia

Thanx for being here… all these years!!!!

About Doug (nilky)

Retired very liberal atheist Radiologic Technologist in Topeka, KS. Looking for a less red place to live... but I love Kansas. I have a wonderful son who lives in the Houston area, and a son who I loved very much who died April 11 of this year 2011. I have a wonderful step-daughter, Kim, and three wonderful grandchildren that I seldom see, two of them are Kims' - Patrick, who will soon be starting technical school, and Lacee, who will be graduating from Topeka West and starting school at Kansas University. Karen wanted her to be a lawyer... I'm not sure what she wants, heh. My beautiful and highly intelligent (she picked me, after all!) fiancee, Jean, has three wonderful daughters, one in LA, one in ArKansas and one in Manhattan, Ks, and a very cute grandson. We enjoy every day that we get to spend together and we're very much in love. My first journal entry was on March 31, 1996 and I've had daily entries since then. That's 5478 entries, many of the later ones with pictures.
