nothing can survive
life or its' consequences;
it's useless to try.

So far, it's been a much better day, both for me and for Karen....

I had a very good sleep... until 09:15 this morning, in spite of all of the snoozebarring... and both Karen and Reta slept well too.

Karen was all smiles when I came in, and pretty much stayed that way until after lunch, when she started getting tired. She had eaten a good breakfast, and the lunch offering wasn't much to her liking... she drank her milk, and that was about it.

And I was the one that spilled a whole cuppa coffee today... Jan had brought me a new one, and I went to set it on the ledge by the window and mis-judged by a coupla millimeters, hit the ledge and lost my grip. Luckily, it all went on the floor, and was easily mopped up with a coupla towels.

The preacher-lady was in, and she and Karen had a really good talk, Karen got to do some crying, which she needs to do, according to everyone else. Of course, when Karen is crying, so am I....

She went to sleep about 13:30, I told her that we would awaken her at 14:30 and see if she felt good enough to make a trip home for a coupla hours... I really think that she will be. It will be good for her, I hope.

The one fear, of course, is that she will get there and not want to come back here.

And I'm thinking that, at this level, Reta and I could handle her being home pretty easily.

14:43...
I just woke Karen up at 14:30, she wanted to sleep longer, so I told her to sleep as long as she wanted and we would decide when she woke up if she wanted to go home... she was fine with that.

So it may not happen today... and that's OK too.

Last night I went by walgreens to pick up a prescription and they had some canned air, so I bought a can ($7 for a can of air? I'm in the wrong business...) and I used it on the laptop, which has been overheating and shutting off after, if I'm lucky, about an hour. And now it's been running coolly for about five hours, heh. Yeah, I had thought about that a coupla years ago when it started, but I've just been too cheap to buy a can of air, and too lazy, I guess, to take it out to the shop and turn on the compressor....

16:25...
Well, the visit home won't happen today, I'm afraid. Karen has had her naps interrupted frequently, so we'll try again in the morning.

Her old friend Lynn came in about 15:00... Lynn had been over to the house to see her on the Sunday that we brought Karen back to Hospice House. They were both happy to see each other today...Karen can't remember anything about the time that we had her home that weekend.

Karen is sleeping really well right now, and Jan just left; Reta went home a coupla hours ago, but she will most likely be back soon.

And this laptop is still running! Amazing what a little dust can do... when I blew it out I didn't even see any dust coming out, but it must've been there. I'm gonna have to take that can home and hit all of my machines with it.

I bought a coupla cans of that stuff several years ago and I think that the grandkids had air fights with it....

16:56...
Karen just woke up and told me to tell them not to bring her any supper, she'll just have me get her a glass of milk and a roll when she wants something. I am just really still amazed and so pleased that she is doing so well.

Cousin Reta just called, and she is on her way up... I will probably call it a night, since Karen is planning on doing nothing but sleeping until the morning so she'll be well rested for the big adventure!

She is a wonderful woman and I love her so much, and even though the situation is so grim, her having a day like today is a diamond, and makes my heart so happy.

She was also talking a lot today about writing the letters to her kids and grandkids again, a subject that she hasn't brought up lately.

21:08...
Just getting around to loading this up... I'm going to bed really early tonight so that I can get there early in the morning....
