Daily Nilknarf Haiku

all grief is lonely
we are all subject to it;
it still really sucks.

Today is the 41st anniversary of the 1966 Topeka Tornado... and there wasn't even a mention of it in the paper.

And there has been some wind today, gusts up to 50MPH... not damage, though. It'll continue throughout the night.

Straight from the south, bring heat with it, and some humidity too, but not enough to make the big storms here.

Karen was quite a bit down today, she didn't even get dressed, but I did help her with a shower this morning.

Chuck and Judy were there most of the day... I got there before 08:00, getting up at 06:30... way earlier than I wanted to, I got a crummy nights' sleep for some reason, worse than usual.

We had a meeting with the doc and with the social worker... she is cleared to come home tomorrow, and the home care is all set up. The doc wasn't concerned with the pedal edema, and I asked her if it was CHF and she nodded her head and dismissed it; that must be a common part of the continuing disease.

After the meeting with the social worker, I went over and picked up Brian and Patrick, and they stayed for about an hour... I had to remind them both to give their grandma a hug and a kiss.

And I'm still really tired. My plan was to come home and start working around here on the things that need to be done, but there's so damned much to be done, I'm spinning my wheels... I'll get a fresh start on it tomorrow.

Mom's cousin Reta is coming up either Friday or Saturday on an open-ended visit; her sister Cleata wants to come up later... Reta will be a great help taking care of Karen, and she is such a pleasant person to be around... I'm looking forward to her being here.

And now I'm going to bed, hopefully for a better sleep.

Today's picture is of Karen and her brother Chuck yesterday, enjoying the sun....
