Bitch of a drive today.... I didn't leave Topeka until about 07:15... I did some snoozebarring, heh. Did get a good sleep, though. Fog until I got north of Kansas City... then rain of various intensities damn near to the Minnesota border. And lots of maniacs... I drove about 65 MPH most of the way, and much of that distance I couldn't see a hundred feet ahead of me... and these assholes were passing me doing 90 MPH. And there were far more trucks than cars, of course. They would have a little better visibility, 'cause they were the ones kicking up the water from the road. And there were some areas of pretty high winds, too... and because of the rain and the trucks, it was hard to figger out which way the wind was gonna blow me.... Anyway, I got to Minneapolis about 16:30, and promptly got lost on my second turn. And I found out that if mapquest says get off on Cedar and go north, you will wonder where the next turn is... if you accidentally went south. So I backtracked about 10 miles and did OK the rest of the way, checking in about 17:30... not too bad, all things considered. And my body hurts, and it needs to be in bed. I knew that I was gonna forget something... and that something was my glasses. So after I got checked in, I went to a local Wal-Mart and got some glasses and some monofilament and now I have a replacement set... courtesy of a gift card that the meeting people provided. I almost stopped at an Outback on the way back, but I decided to try the hotel restaurant instead, and that was a good choice. I had a hazel-nut encrusted walleye, it was excellent... served with wild rice and asparagus and green beans and some white stuff that looked like a green bean but tasted like water chestnuts. And I made a short pot of decaff and I'm going to sleep after I figger out the alarm clock.
