Notes

Daily Nilknarf Haiku

Our living fabric...
ruptured by time, flatulent
with corruptive bugs....

First, the mundanities:

No sleep last night, some sleep this morning.

Got to sleep finally at 05:00. Slept until 12:30. Karen was still sleeping, she went to sleep around midnight, she says. Every time that I went to bed or got up she was snoring....

She snores very gently... but enought to let me know that she's sleeping, which naturally pisses me off, no matter how gently, 'cause she's sleeping... and I'm not.

She went over to Kim's, they're going out to Harrahs to see a show (and win some money, heh) and she'll probably be back about midnight....

...........

Eleven years ago I wrote the first entry in this journal.

There were probably five or six other people doing journalling on-line... it was a new thing. And I was a newcomer to this endeavor, and not at all sure of what I was doing.

Hell, the interenet in general was a new thing.

And the fact that I could attach a very personal note to a URL was really weird. But I could do it, I learned the ropes.

It required a coupla things: knowing HTML, a pretty simple endeavor; and knowing how to get it on-line.

The third component was how to get it read... how to get the people who had popular web-sites to link to you.

Yeah, I never have gotten that part figgered out.

And I probably never will.

And I really don't care that much... or I would have done something about it.

To read my first entry, see the link below this text, 31 March 1996.

To see what's happened since then, just click on the "next" link... you can read 11X365 +4 (4018) entries....

The question of "why" that was present in the early years has dissipated; with the millions of blogs now extant, the answer is moot.

The fact remains, I was one of the first.

And I might well be one of the last, as fads pass.

But while I have the will and ability to write, I will; this is as much a part of my life as breathing.

Thanx for being here!
