many million stars,
all bits of the universe...
exactly like us.

Getting ready to go to a birthday party for one of my co-workers; eats and beer and pop provided....

More when I return.

22:53...
Nice party, lotsa nice people there.

It was held in a house that was built in the 1880s... a beautiful three-story + basement elegant, large house. It was inherited some years ago by a guy that I've known for about 30 years, and he and his wife worked three years on it and they now rent it out for parties and other events.

There were probably eighty people there, and I knew more than a few of them, so I had a pretty good time.

But Karen started wearing out about 20:45, so we said our good-byes and came on home.

I was talking about retirement with some folks, and I realized that my SS isn't gonna get it, even supplemented with my retirement income from the hospital....

One of the main problems with SS is that the upper limits on individual contributions hasn't increased in a number of years... I haven't looked it up, but if it would have, it wouldn't be in the trouble that it is now.

When I first started working, the first few years that I was out of the army I quit paying in sometime in November or december... that was 1969. Every year since then, SS has gotten a chunk of my paycheck every payday.

But the rich folks are done paying in January or February.

Does this seem right... or just?

I'm sure that politically, this wouldn't be a good idea... after all, it's the rich people who own the politicians.

But it would certainly solve the problem.

Ah, here are the current rates:
The Social Security (full FICA) rate withholding is 7.65% (6.2% Social Security plus 1.45% Medicare) for wages up to $94,200 in 2006 ($97,500 in 2007). In 2006, all wages over $94,200 are subject only to the 1.45% Medicare rate.

I couldn't find any history on the SS site, though.

Just something to think about.
