Daily Nilknarf Haiku

bent, but still human,
minds survive better than the
morals and ethics.

A poor choice of pain drugs last night kept me from going in to work this morning... I was up most of the night. Codeine wires me, and it was midnight before I remembered that, dammit.

Luckily, the pain drugs plus the muscle relaxer seems to have done the job, the back is a lot better today.

Of course, I'm not testing it at all... but that pre-spasmotic feeling isn't there.

JD called tonight, and he told me that my former father-in-law, a fellow that I liked and admired, had a stroke yesterday at the casino north of Topeka. I wish him well, and a speedy recovery.

We're having a thunderstorm party here in NE Kansas... all of it, right now, to the east of Topeka. Tornados on e ground in two places... unless it's the same tornado reported by two different people, one of which doesn't know where he is.

There's another storm coming up the turnpike straight at Topeka, but it looks as if it'll veer off to the east and miss us too.

And then there's the snow that's coming... most of that will be north of here, so they say.

And they've actually been pretty good this winter with the forecasts, I think that they've been improving incrementally over the last ten years or so... being a weatherman is no longer such a joke.

I'd called Karen to come out earlier, just before sunset, the clouds were beautiful, just the tops of these huge thunderheads painted with pink and orange... you could actually see the horizon line creeping up the sides of those monsters.

No pictures, too many trees in the way, dammit.

And February is over, and I'm happy 'bout that.
