Daily Nilknarf Haiku

And how glad am I that it was Friday? Pretty goddamned glad, that's how glad I am!

I'm on call, of course, and I've got two calls tonight, both handled by phone, luckily.

We were two tech short this morning, and one this afternoon. Luckily, the supervisor recognized the problem early in the week and scaled the schedule down.

Since we had two people gone, I kinda had the choice of being in the scan room or being the runner... I chose the scan room, of course.

And it really wasn't a bad day, aside from having a doc be a dick... a dick doc, there are millions of 'em out there, heh.

I'm not talking about urologists here....

And a crummy night's sleep, predicted...nay, jinxed... by my closing statement but one from yesterday.

But I got through it OK, more or less. After all, I did get lunch, and I did get to leave on time.

Harm isn't caused by people who don't know what they're doing... they don't do anything. It's the people who think that they know what they're doing that are dangerous.

That's not something that I just made up, of course, just re-phrasing an old saw... but it's pertinent to my day.

There's another old saw: just because one can't do it right, whatever it is, doesn't mean that one can't tell when it's being done wrong.

What one usually does then, of course, is to assiduously avoid looking.

And if one does look, one keeps his mouth shut.

'Cause it's not a problem unless everyone in the world agrees that it's a problem.

I should stop talking in circles, it makes me dizzy and I can't see anything....

And actually, only one teeny little bit of this has anything to do with my day, and that bit probably doesn't, either.

Karen and I were going to go out, but we didn't, decided to order a pizza instead. And then we watched a movie, Miss COngeniality II... Karen had seen the first one, and thought this one might be good... and it was. I was laughing hard enough to cry a coupla times.

We're going to get an early start and get over to Mom's apartment tomorrow... but first, a good night's sleep. I'm pretty sure that'll happen tonight.
