Daily Nilknarf Haiku

Finally, the stars:
Friendly Orion, still there...
but where is the moon?

I hate it when I forget to do a haiku, that's even worse than doing a bad one... yeah, there have been several of those.

It was really nice sleeping in today, I slept until about 09:30... but I didn't get to sleep until after 01:00. Still, 8.5 hours is more than I usually get.

I'm having a really tough time deciding who I want to represent the dems in the 2008 election; I dislike both of the front-runners... Clinton is to divisive (not like that decides an election, look at our present prez...) and Obama? I just really don't know where he stands on most of the issues that I key on... plus he's not got that much experience.

Right now, the best ticket for me would be Clinton/Obama. Eight years of Hillary, then eight more of Obama.

I'm not really that interested in who's running on the other side, there's no way that I would vote for a republican. Eight years ago, I might have voted for the guy from Arizona, but not now.

Of course, there's the guy from Kansas... Brownback. I never realized how much he sounds like BoB Dole, the reason why I'm a registered republican.

For those of you who don't know the story... in Kansas, we can only vote in the primary for members of our own party. As a registered republican, I wanted every chance that I could get to vote against Dole. In the primary, I would vote for the guy most likely to win against Dole and who would lose in the general election.

That strategy never worked, of course, but I did get a great deal of personal satisfaction out of it.

Today has been pretty ho-hum, generally. I did my annual renewal of my registry, allowing me to work another two years.

I went to Walgreens to get some Doritos so that I could make some cheese salsa for Karen, and then I fixed burritos... not much of a trick, I have a bunch frozen in the shop refrigerator.

I also got a coupla movies, Changing Lanes is the one that we decided to watch tonight... about 1/3 of the way through, I decide that I didn't really want to watch it, but Karen was still interested, so here I am....

And I think that I'll go smoke a cigar and put the lid on this day.
