Daily Nilknarf Haiku
Making do with the
memory and brainpower
that we were born with....

Yet another full day at work after another night empty of sleep... or, rather, a night void of sleeping... or something like that.

On the new machine, there is an extra step that needs to be taken... and I keep forgetting to take it. Just too used to the old way....

But it pisses me off that I can't get my mind around it. I guess that it just takes time, and I'm an impatient ass.

And yesterday's haiku is still appropriate, so it remains....

Tonight we went to see Jody at theDen in North Topeka, and it was fun.

He's got a nice band put together, he's playing bass, deferring to an excellent lead guitar amn. And he's got a fiddle and a steel guitar, too, both of whom seem to be accomplished musicians. The drummer is probably of the same caliber, but I don't know shit about drums, so I don't have an opinion on that.

We got there about half-way through the first set, and stayed about half-way through the second and I had to leave.

The placed was absolutely packed, and, as Karen pointed out, most of the people there were scary.

I had noticed this really cute girl about 35 or so, and when Karen and I were dancing our one slow dance, she caught my eye and smiled at me... showing all four of her teeth. Or maybe five, but who's counting?

Anyway, the band was really good, and we got a chance to talk with Jody a bit between sets. He's getting paid by a recording company now and will record his first album for them shortly. He had shoulder-length hair, which Karen disliked, but he said that the people that pay him want it to be that way.

The whole experience, of course, amde me want to write and play music... which I haven't done much of since we moved. Gotta get back into that soon, or I'll lose it....

My plan was initially to get up early tomorrow, but I've got a lot of lost sleep to catch up on... but it's the middle of summer here in Kansas, with temps up in the high 90s, so I won't get any shop work done except on the weekends early... O'well.

O'yeah... the last day of June... gotta do the monthly housekeeping tasks, like make a new directory and stuff like that....
