I got a much better sleep last night with my new noise machine, even though it is quite a bit different from the previous one... there's no "white" noise setting; the closest that I could come to it is the rain pattern. But it's a helluva lot better than nothing. I was the runner again today, and I did pretty good in general, mostly kept up. I did miss a vein that I shouldn't have, though... on a very nervous patient who hated needles, naturally. Not that everyone doesn't hate needles.... She convinced me that the vein that had been used earlier to do some blood work was the only "good" one that she had. So I tried it and couldn't get it to work. So I had to go to the other arm... which had a beautiful vein that was no problem, naturally. The problem with going into a recently-used vein is that after a puncture is made, blood collects below the surface and surrounds the vein, effectively closing it off. This is especially true if the vein was not properly compressed for a while after the puncture. And usually inadequate compression just leaves a bruise, which fades as any other bruise does. Cosmetically, the ladies hate it when that happens, and the guys are usually proud of those bruises... go figger, heh. The only problem comes when somebody later tries to tap that vein.... It's a mistake that I don't usually make, and it'll be a long time before I make it again. And we got the wall down today! Yep, they've almost got the room all ready for the new scanner... we'll start training on it a week from next Monday. I'm really looking forward to that, yes I am. And now it's time for bed, damn I'm always so tired lately....
