Daily Nilknarf Haiku
Listen to your priest;
he has all the answers but
he's short on questions.

Ah, it started off with being a good day, but it degenerated rapidly.

I'll do what I can to regenerate the good feeling, heh.

'Cause I like to feel good about my days and my life.

Shortly after I got my bandsaw, I ordered some expensive blades; I used the information in the book that came with the saw, of course.

99 and 3/4" inches. I ordered three blades: 1/8", 3/8" and 3/4". $90 with shipping and handling....

And this morning, I decided that I would do some re-sawing for a project for JD, so I needed to put the 3/4" blade on.

And it's about an inch too long.

And I am pissed.

I looked up the length again in the book, sure that I had made a mistake... but no, that's what it said.

And the blades were special-made for that length, and non-returnable.

Did I mention that I'm pissed?

I guess that I should put the 3/8" blade back on and just go on and order the right-sized blades, but I'm out of energy, 'cause I've used it up being pissed, heh.

Other news... O'wait, there isn't any.

Karen and I and Mom were going to go to the art fair at Washburn today, but Mom declined, it was gonna be too hot for her, and I wanted to go to the Coleman Hawkins Jazz-fest, but that's gonna be too hot for me....

I do love that jazz, though... and live jazz is about ten times better than canned jazz, usually. And you get a chance to mingle with a lot of black people, which I don't do in the normal course of events in my life.

The people who love jazz, both black and white and every color in between, is a whole different culture, and I truly love it. Blues, even more so... but not quite so universal. Jazz audiences are about 75-25% black, and blues audiences are about 90-10%.

Unfortunately, aside from work, I don't have much contact with anyone socially. I do think that it's a character defect, and so do most of the people that I know.

19:22...
I went over and picked Mom up about 17:00, and she and Karen talked each other into going to the arts fair at Washburn... but they couldn't talk me into going. For some reason or another, my legs really hurt today, probably left-over pain from the work week....

Karen and Mom got back discouraged somewhat... the art fair evidently closed at 18:00, which is a shame, it's a really beautiful evening.

We sat around and talked for quite a while and that was nice.

Karen is going to spend the night with Lacee, she's gonna be cyberbowling... Lacee is, not Karen. Karen's supposed to pick her and two of her friends up at 01:00 and take them back to Kim's house... Kim has been gone for the weekend.

And I'm feeling crummier as this day progresses, got a cough and a kinda sore throat and my belly doesn't feel none too good, either. And tired, when I shouldn't be. Maybe I'll get to bed really early, get about twelve hours of sleep, that should do the trick, I hope.
