Pleasantries abound;
the sun is the focus and
the hopes of our dreams.

Today... was all about teeth.

Or rather, the lack thereof.

I had a pretty good morning... I was the Z guy today, and started off the morning with a bang... first I hit a coupla veins that I really wasn't too sure of, and then I had a pretty complicated biopsy to do. The main complication was the patient... a patient that I had done the CT on last week who was very, very claustrophobic... and also one of the nicest people that I have ever met.

Last week I talked him into getting his CT done, and it took me about ten minutes to do that. I had thought that was a pretty good accomplishment, but it was nothing compared to what the nurse and I did today, heh.

An incidental note... IV drugs are wonderful in these cases....

Once he was set up and properly relaxed, I set up the biopsy with absolutely no help from the radiologist... he was busy on the phone with office politics... and when he got off the phone he complimented me for getting it perfect, heh. Well... I can make a compliment out of anything that's not outright criticism....

Then the morning proceeded, as they always do... overbooked and the ER was running wild. We did get lunch, though, which was really nice.

And I came back to the department... and my teeth fell out.

OK, not all of them, just the front six on the top. The temporary bridge had bit the dust, almost literally, heh. They balanced on my lower lip for a minute, but I caught them. Or rather, it.

So, the call to the dentist. And the schedule was done at 13:00, and there was no way that I could face a patient and explain their exam with no teeth... I can hardly talk that way. So I came home and then went to the dentist after I had brushed my teeth and got it put back in again. And it's much better now.

Lacee is spending the night... Kim is off somewhere in Texas for four days with Tom, who I thought she had broken up with... so much for my understanding of women and their ways.

I was up late again last night, but tonight is gonna be different... yeah, I say that every night and then... Ooooo! Something shiny!

Which is, incidentally, a phrase which I originally abhorred when I encountered it on the web but that I have since been enamored of. It indicates a certain trend towards a flakiness than has become increasingly endearing in my growing senility.

Karen said that today's picture makes me look like an old man with no teeth. Kinda hits it right on the head with that characterization, right?

"The gods can either take away evil from the world and will not, or, being willing to do so cannot; or they neither can nor will, or lastly, they are able and willing.
If they have the will to remove evil and cannot, then they are not omnipotent.
If they can but will not, then they are not benevolent.
If they are neither able nor willing, they are neither omnipotent nor benevolent.
Lastly, if they are both able and willing to annihilate evil, why does it exist?"
-- Greek philosopher Epicurus (341-270 B.C.E.)
