Daily Nilknarf Haiku
In so many ways
creation, so many ways
never an answer....

Kind of a fun day, if you can dismiss the wear and tear on my poor body, especially my legs....

Well, you may dismiss it lightly if you're so inclined. I can't, but I will just not say any more about it, it's old news.

The fun part, as usual, was the patient contact. I was the runner today, and I put in about twenty IVs. Took me twice two times, but I didn't feel bad about either of those....

The first one was a patient who'd had his only good vein tapped yesterday, and he didn't want me to use that arm at all. And he had nothing on his other arm, but he insisted that there was a vein "right there!" Well, sometimes I've been wrong about such things, and after figgering out where a vein should be, since I could neither feel nor see one, I made the puncture and, again at his insistence, fished around for a while. No go, if there ever had been a vein there somebody ruined it years ago. Went to his other arm and made a painless (he said) veinpuncture, heh.

The second one was different... she had fine veins, but was scared to death of needles, but dammit, she was determined to do well. And she did try, and I made the first puncture just fine but she jerked it out, blood everywhere, of course. Well, not everywhere, but I had trouble getting the tourniquet off.

She did fine the second time, though... I had one hand behind her elbow so that she couldn't move it.

And she was one sweet lady, too... she was concerned that I felt bad 'cause I hadn't got it the first time, heh.

I came home pretty much on time and went out to the shop and put together the stand for the bandsaw. It was highly recommended that two people lift the bandsaw onto the stand, but you know me... I'm only one person.

But I still do have a brain... so I laid the saw down on its' side and attached the base.

And then I figgered out how to lift the saw upright in two stages, using only my legs to lift with. And it worked just fine.

So I've got it all put together with only a few parts left over... I wonder if manufacturers do that to mess with your mind or it they're just generous spirits who figgered that you wanted an extra knob and a bolt and nut, just to have?

Anyway, all I have to do now is fine-tune it, I'll do that tomorrow with a clear mind and a rested body.

And I keep telling my brother that I'll call him and I never do think about it until it's too late, dammit. He's a forgiving soul, however... I hope!
