Notes

Daily Nilknarf Haiku
Bluesy evening...
twilight clung like molasses
to the western sky.

And this was the second full day without my back hurting... hey, I'm really starting to like this!

What I don't like is the fact that Karen has gone off with Kim to Las Vegas for three days....

And of course she had asked me to go... but I have absolutely no desire to see or be in Las Vegas. Not interested in gambling, not interested in shows, definitely not interested in flying anywhere.

Anyway, I got a good night's sleep and got up and showered and went to the physical therapy and then went to breakfast at Spangles... we'd gone the last two times to... damn, the name eludes me, but they fly a giant American flag, always have.

Came back home and I finally got Karen's itinerary to print... man, I hate printers, they are so stupid. I normally can avoid printing anything... but some things you just can't avoid, dammit.

And now for a little rant.

George Bush and his right-wing mostly republican crew have pretty much ruined the United States in five short years.

And the people who voted for him the first time? Well, they got suckered.

Those that voted for him the second time? Just simply afraid to admit to themselves how stupid they were the first time.

So, you might ask, how come there were more people that voted for him the second time than the first time?

The only thing that I can say is that there were a lot of stupid people that didn't vote the first time.

Oddly, I remember making this very same argument a year into Nixon's second term. I sure haven't learned much since then, heh?

Or the voters haven't learned much.

Nobody listened to me then, and nobody's listening now, dammit.

And of course there is nothing that he can do about gasoline prices and availability. That's congress' job, and they will never do anything, it's their hallmark, after all.

Well, of course, the pres could stop (our part of the) war in Iraq, that would save a lot of gasoline right there. And as far as the fears that withdrawal will destabilize the region? Hello? They're gonna have their was, with or without us. And it will not be civil, no war ever is, what a fucking silly term.

They need to have their blood-letting and be done with it, and we need to butt out. We cannot force them to live together as one big happy family, after all. They need to be three separate nations or states or whatever, and that will not be done without blood running in the streets.

But what do we have over there right now? Duh, it's blood... in the streets. And some of it's ours.

There will be peace only when they regain their secularism... just like us.
