Another really sucky night's sleep... pain no matter which way I turn or how many pain pills I take. No more sleeping in the waterbed until this is over, dammit. It is very painful getting in and out of it... I'll be sleeping on the guest bed on the main floor. We went in a little after 08:00 this morning, and the physical therapist is excellent. The concern firstly was whether or not I should treat this as a work injury... workman's comp is a really red-tape hassle, and would probably delay my treatment for a coupla weeks. And I'm really hurting too much to do that. And yeah, I know that's what they're counting on. And the therapist tested my limits... which are very narrow. Yep, move that leg 1/4 of an inch and I'm on the ceiling... either way. I do not think that a very good actor could have done nearly as well, heh. So she gave me some exercises and gave Karen some instructions on giving me an ice rub... yeah, right, that sounds like fun, but not really. And Karen is off at her semi-annual VIP luncheon at BC/BS, and I haven't given her the good news yet. O'yeah... the good news: we have a contract on the house. We'll only lose about $6000 on the deal, dammit. I think that it's really hard to call that good news, but there it is anyway. Back to the back...Every other time I've hurt my back, I've healed up pretty quickly. And maybe it just that I'm getting older... but this time really has me worried. I really don't want to spend the rest of my life worrying about hurting my back again, or even just living with it the way that it is right now, never knowing when it'll hit me next.... On the other hand, I'm 60 years old, and I should be able to understand that anything could happen to me at any time and end my life or cripple me or BabyBush could start a nucular war.... And I'm wondering if GW was paying attention in the 50's when he was in school, when they were teaching about how to react when the atomic bomb went off in your neighborhood. I don't think that he was. It went something like this: 1)cover your head 2)put your head between your legs; and 3)kiss your ass goodbye. There has been much talk on the web lately about the next war, the one with Iran... and a pre-emptive strike using nuclear weapons. 'Cause I really think that that motherfucker and his cohorts will do that. Like, what does he have to lose? He's a lame-duck anyway, and maybe if he starts another war people will forget about his lying about the first one. And then, he's a compassionate conservative... and a uniter, not a divider. And Zon got me to thinking about another thing... Rocks and hard places...And it isn't really that Mexicans will work and do the jobs that "honest Americans" won't take... but that they will take those jobs at a rate far below minimum wage. If the businesses that employ illegal aliens would pay minimum wages, there would be citizens there to do those jobs. And the businesses profit, and the fact that they aren't prosecuted allows their stockholders to profit.
And since they're illegal, they don't have to pay SS taxes, or taxes of any kind. And no workman's comp or any of that crap either. If an illegal is injured on the job, fire his ass and get another illegal to do that job. "Evolution: A flood of evidence.
