ARCHIVES - 1996 to FOREVER

I did have a problem getting to work today, though. I took an extra-long shower and then lollygagged around and didn't leave the house until 07:30... which is when everyone else in SW Topeka left their houses, too. I just barely made it to work on time.

If I leave ten minutes earlier, I get there twenty minutes earlier and much less frazzled.

Damn, have I said this before recently? Seems that I may have... sorry, I hate to subject my dear readers to the same drivel, you should get fresh new drivel every day.

Anyway, I was the runner today, and this was the first really busy day in the last coupla weeks. And I hit 19/20 veins that I aimed at... the one that I missed I have no idea why that one didn't work, up against a valve or something. The lady was used to getting missed, though, and it was a bigger deal to me than it was to her. The vein on her other arm felt exactly the same, and I hit it with no problem.

Needless to say, my legs are killing me, but I still feel pretty good about today.

Weirdly, we had an amazingly coincidental five contrast reactions today... but two of them probably weren't, and there didn't really seem to be any connecting factors involved... one of them was in x-ray, where they use a totally different contrast material by the same manufacturer...

We probably have about one contrast reaction a week, and I can remember fifteen or twenty weeks where we didn't have any, so maybe this was just one of those bitchy make-up days, y'know, to make all of the averages come out right?

Every human bean is a wonderful culmination of coincidences... the simplest is just the fact that your mother and father met and had sex, but it doesn't either start of stop there....

And yes, I did say bean.

I didn't leave until about 17:30 or so when things were pretty well caught up... and I'm going to go to bed early tonight again... tomorrow I hope to only work a half-day or so if it isn't too busy and we get some extra help if we are busy. I have to use a whole day PTO and a portion of another one before I can start using my extended illness hours, which I have a whole big pile of. I have a very *small* pile of vacation time....
