Again, not too bad of a day at work. We even had a coupla fifteen-minute gaps with nobody on the table, something that has not happened with any frequency lately at all.... I got off at 16:30 and came on home and reminded Karen that we were going to the KU Wind Ensemble tonight, and she got ready to go whilst I whiled away the time admiring the new set of cutters that I got in the mail today... my next-to-the-last major purchase for the shop. Rail and stile cutters, 1/2-inch carbide cutters, along with a drawer-lock set and an ogee panel-raiser... I can make cabinet doors now, after I watch the video, heh. We drove over to Lawrence and started looking for a place to eat by the university, saw a coupla bars that looked like they might have food and went in one... and it didn't. However, in the next building over was a chinese buffet with all of it's windows blown out and boarded up with an "OPEN" sign, so we decided what the hell. And it was just a chinese buffet, with the food that all chinese buffets have, no better, no worse. Well, it was better'n a couple that I've eaten at, I guess. We then wove our way to the Lied Center, only making a few wrong turns to get there. Lawrence, as you may have heard, was hit by a micro-burst last Sunday morning, and all of the lights on the campus still aren't working.. including the ones that lit up the sign on the building designating our destination. Karen had been there before, though, so it was just a matter of trail and error to get her to a point where she recognized the building. I got the tickets with no problem, and we took our seats just as the conductor was coming on-stage. And we didn't stay past the intermission... for one thing, I hadn't taken my pills, and I could feel the blood pounding in my ears... that's the main thing, really. Plus I'm not really too hep on sitting for long periods, even though the music was wonderful... brilliant acoustics in that building. Another problem was that I had had a small helping of beans for lunch, so I was having periodic intestinal distress.... And so I drove us on home, and started reading e-mail, and suddenly it's way past my bedtime, dammit.
it's the cutting and killing
of the unwilling.
