I don't know if anyone outside of Kansas has been following the BTK story, but it took a gruesome turn Tuesday when the defendant plead guilty... and told the stories of how he'd killed his victims. This, mind you, was on TV. Karen watched it, and recorded it for me. I didn't watch very much of it. And I'm not given to nightmares, usually. And those that I do have, I usually enjoy. Not lately, heh. This man emotionlessly told of torturing and killing people, like he worked in a slaughterhouse. And that, says the DA, is only the tip of the iceburg. I don't want any more details, thank you, Ms DA... just leave me with my head to fill in the blanks... or better yet, to just not think about it any more. The problem is, of course, is that there are maybe hundreds of people out there, patiently waiting for their opportunities... we don't know who they are, or how to find them and stop them once they get started. And they know this. This guy was intelligent enough to not get caught for 30 years. And then only because he grew tired of not getting any credit for the murders, I guess. Kept leaving more and more clues, begging to get caught, waiting for his day in the limelight. Watching this man makes me disgusted with humanity, that even a small part of our population can think this way. And he got started *way* before the popularity of slasher-type movies. And out death penalty is not retroactive... so someone just needs to put a bullet in his head while he tries to escape or something like that. Or put him in the general prison population... but that would be too easy. And it'll never happen. No, this asshole will use up our tax dollars (as he would if he were executed, yeah, I know... but we'd get the satisfaction of seeing him dead) for the rest of his life... gloating. Proud that they couldn't catch him without his help. Proud of what he'd done. Enough of that. OK day at work. And we got another coupla inches of rain today. That is good... and it's gonna be beautiful this weekend and for the 4th. And that'll do it for this day. there is none more evil.
