Daily Nilknarf Haiku

Too swiftly, these ticks
of our too-short lives' clocks pass;
and the world won't pause.

The world didn't pause for me today while I hit the snoozebar... I did that until 07:55, dammit.

I was in bed by 22:30 last night, but I didn't sleep worth a damn. Kept waking up, I don't know why. And yes, I took a pill about 21:30.

Made it to work by 08:30, though, and I even took a shower. That was a necessity.

Not too bad of a day, for a day at work. I was the Z guy, and no biopsies or drainages, dang it.

And we had several lulls during the afternoon... even though our schedule was full. People just don't show up. We ought to start charging them, like many dentists do now.

The other hospital in town has a new set of scanners... just like the ones that we're gonna buy. And they've been advertising, yes they have. I think that's cut into our business somewhat... but they're having problems with their machines. Or their personnel... hard to know which stories to believe.

Our first new scanner should be installed within a coupla months, and the second one shortly after that. I'm looking forward to it... with a little trepidation, I must admit. It's gonna be a challenge for my mind, which is good. But there's always that thread of doubt in my mind...is it gonna be too much for my ageing synapses?

Anyway, hot again today, and t-storms in the area, but mostly, as usual, Topeka was missed. They were forming to the southwest, and to the east, and to the north... there was a kinda U-shaped place for Topeka. I just don't understand it.

We will probably get a little rain, though.

And now I'm gonna get a good nights' sleep tonight, through the sheer force of my mighty will. Sure, I will.
