Lame... the haiku, I mean. Way too late up last night, yet again. Tonight I'm taking a pill before I go to bed... in about five minutes. Went to see the optometrist this morning before work... he had good news and bad news: good news: my eyes were the same as they were last time, about eighteen months ago. Bad news: the vision problems that I've been having are probably the result of fatigue. I don't really talk much abot my physical ailments, just my tard... but a big reason for the tard is that my cardiac output is so poor. The normal ejection fraction (a measure of how well the heart pumps) is 60-75%. Mine is 30%. So... that explains the tard part. What the fatigue is... is the fact that I don't really accept the fact that my heart doesn't work right, and try to exceed my feeble capabilities. I don't do many physical things... I'm at least smart enough to avoid that. I really can't even cut the lawn, unless I do it in ten-minute segments, with an hour of rest in between. But for some reason or another, I think that I can stay up half the night and stuill function properly and feel good. This is stupid... but there are so many things that I want to read! But I need to grow up, and accept the facts. And I really, really don't want to. Anyway, I went to the eye doc and then on to work... with pupils as big as saucers. And they were that way until after noon. And man-o-man, did I get a headache. I dislike having headaches. In fact, I detest most kinds of personal pain, I'm funny that way. Took tylenol until it was gone... and then it was finally, finally, time to go home. When I got home, Patrick and Brian were waiting for me... they needed to know what to do next. And Karen wantes piles of boards moved or consolidated or something, and I was really too tired to deal with it, so I just extracted a promise from them that when I figgered it out, they'd do it. So Karen gave them their money, including Drew, who was minimally helpful but did deserve something, he put in some time, anyway. So Drew put his money in his shoe... and then lost it outside somewhere. I was curious when I saw everyone (Kim had shown up by now) walking around the yard looking down. I found the money within about five minutes, of course... finding money is one of my specialties, always has been. Drew was very reluctant to give me a finder's fee... seems like he doesn't understand the concept. I let him get by with it... thins time. Then we took the kids home in Kim's van, and then Karen and Kim and I went out to the outback for a steak. Very good meal, very good company and conversation. Karen and Kim started talking about their soaps and I got out my PDA and started playing solataire... I think that they got my subtle hint. The Outback was almost deserted... they've got a lot of good competition now, and it's telling. And the competition has steaks just as good.... And I'm gonna get a rub, take a pill and sleep.
