ARCHIVES - 1996 to FOREVER

11:45, the hateful thing said back at me when I glared at it.

I'd slept like a rock for about twelve hours.

I jumped outta bed and showered... Karen was taking Brian over to Lawrence to see his maternal grandmother, who is in the hospital dying of lung cancer.

I got outta here about 12:30, filling up with gas on my way out. Made it to Emporia in pretty good time. The gathering was supposed to start at 13:00, but I'd called and said that I'd be a little late.

And I got lost. Actually, not really lost, but I hadn't gone far enough before I decided that I'd gone too far.

So I backtracked and figgered out that I was wrong. So I lit out on another street, thinking that I'd run into the cross street just as easily.

And I would have too... except for the parade that detoured me.

And put the Emporia State University campus between me and my goal.

I finally got back on the right street, and I noticed that there was an x-type street sign gone at one of the intersections. Wouldn't that be a hoot, I thought, if that was the street that I needed? Such a thing couldn't happen, though, right?

Wrong. After going another fifteen or so blocks, I was running out of town... so I called, and Colin, the father of the honoree today, directed me to the 4-way stop... the one with the missing sign.

From that point, I was home free.

Met everyone and ate, then we had a while before the ceremony, so everyone just kinda hung out and enjoyed.

I was designated the cameraman with a digital video recorder, and I did my best, but the ceremony was outside, and there was a very white building in the background and all of the participants were in the shade... I hope that it came out OK.

Sat around for a short while after the ceremony but I left shortly after the KU game started.

Which they lost, the bums. Not motivated enough, I guess.

Karen and I went out to eat at Ruby Tuesday after I'd delivered (some of) Mom's drugs to her. Not too bad, but I wouldn't go there if they didn't have that buy one entree get the second one free coupon....

The rest of the evening has been spent piddling with the sound recording program on my computer... I think that I've finally got it figgered out. So it's set up, now all I have to do is... figger out how to use it, heh.

And I certainly hope that my late sleep today doesn't screw up the whole weekend and beyond....
