Daily Nilknarf Haiku

The first thunderstorm
More than a hint, spring's
slap in winter's face.

A long, happy and surprisingly productive day it was.

I got JD up shortly after 09:00, and after a while we went town to the basement.

I thought about taking a "before" picture, but didn't. I will have some "after" pictures, however. Guarantee!

So we worked for a while, then went over to see Mom. She was chipper, as she usually is lately. She is such a joy, and I'm so glad that she's close at hand now!

She and JD were quite happy to see each other, of course, and she was also happy to see the laptop that I brought her. She is, I believe, somewhat intimidated by it, but she'll get over that soon, I hope.

Then back... to the basement. And we worked and worked, until finally Karen made us stop for supper.

And JD was buying my birthday meal, and I didn't object at all... we went to the Outback and each of us had a wonderful steak.

Before I woke JD up this morning, I had a thought: Exactly twenty-nine and a half years ago, he was born... so he's the exact same age as I was when he was born.

We got the computers put in an old wheeled rack cabinet that I've had for 20 years or so, and everything worked out perfectly. Got them up and running again, after some fits and starts. More on that project as the days go on....

Anyway, it was a wonderful day... it's gonna be so nice to take a shower and go to bed, though!

Unfortunately, I have an early wake-up tomorrow... it's my 07:00 week... which is good, that means that I can come home earlier and work on the basement!
