Mom woke me up about 07:30, she was feeling much better and seemed to be pretty peppy... which was good, since we still had a lot of work to do. Naturally, I had slept poorly, as I generally do when I'm not in my own bed. I went to McD's down the road, got a coffee and a bc&e biscuit. And I took a small load of stuff to the charity place, left it outside the door. And then we worked. Finally, the sorting was done, and I started loading up the truck and trailer. And that went pretty good, although I discovered that someone had stolen some of the tie-down straps from the back of the truck. But I made it work anyway. Finally about 13:00 we were on the road. And I realized that there was a problem with the trailer. It was swaying constantly. I stopped and checked the load, and I checked the wheel bearings, all OK. To make a long story short, we wound up driving home at 62MPH, because any faster than that really made it hard to drive. And about 50 miles outside of Topeka, I think that I figgered it out... I didn't have enough weight on the tongue, it was almost perfectly balanced over the wheels. But anyway, I'm home now, and damned tard. I decided not to unload tonight but we'll do it tomorrow... just spuuposed to be cloudy tonight and tomorrow. O;yeah, I forgot to mention that when we left Enid it was 73°F? Not nearly that here.... And O'yeah... Mom is nearly as good a travelling companion as Karen is! I've got a meeting tomorrow from 18:00 to 22:00, so tomorrow's entry will be late too.
