The American Dream:
Unattainable now as always.
Go back to your caves.

Something is happening today on this great world-wide web.

Something bad.

Earlier I'd noticed some slowdowns, but now everything has just stopped. First HTTP stuff, then FTP stuff, now e-mail.

My cable modem, however, is a-blinkin' away, and the Vonage phone system seems to be working just fine.

20:26...
Just got back from Lawrence where we saw Fahrenheit 9/11. I'm afraid that I wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped to be, but Karen was very impressed. It's hard being disillusioned.

I didn't really learn anything that I didn't already know, with the exception of the fact that the Bushes were deep into the pockets of the ben Ladens... that really doesn't surprise me, but I didn't know that before I saw the movie.

I actually DLed the movie yesterday, but I'm still glad that we went to Lawrence to see it. It showed at the Liberty theater downtown, and I'd never been there before. Very nice (but kinda seedy) theater probably built in the 40s. We sat in the balcony, had an excellent view of the screen with no obstructions... they'd taken out every other row of seats, so there was legroom galore, and I sat through the entire thing with no back problems. Well, not the entire thing, I did take a potty break about half-way through.

We stopped and ate on the way back at a rather posh resturant, can't remember the name of the place but it was on west 6th street. Relatively new place, I had a steak and Karen had a hamburger. OK place, I guess.

I'm going to go in to work early this next week, so I should be thinking about getting to bed, heh. I got up at 10:30 this morning, and I must say, this has been a very restful weekend, and I really needed that. Didn't do a damn thing, really.

Well, I did do some things on line... I'm trying to break out of my virgin status at Three-way action, gonna be posting there more frequently. I've been there more than a year now, and I've only had about ten posts. Mostly a lurker, I am, trying to get away from my shyness. Not easy, I've been shy all my life, y'know?

Well, let's see if I can post this... then to bed.

Well, dammit, I can't post it... and I forgot to save it locally, and I did a MS update that required re-booting. Luckily, the program that I use does an automatic local save every three minutes, so it did get saved, and I was able to salvage it. Damn, that was close!
