Scintillating bugs Nice day today. I had an adequate amount of sleep, although I snoozebarred for 45 minutes.... I was in the scan room today, and everything clicked with the patients. That makes for a happy day, it's wonderful working with people who appreciate your efforts. And relatively unusual, I hate to say. All of our patients are worried about their health, and upset and sometimes angry. And whoever the tech in the scan room is gets the brunt of it. It's a challenge to work with most patients, but a very rewarding one. There's a talent involved, and I'm happy to say that I have it. However wonderful a day that it was, however, I still have to contend with my legs feeling like they're going to drop off. Yeah, I'd bitch if they hung me with a used rope, wouldn't I? Brother Dan sent me an article about how many more mistakes nurses make when they're working long hours; this is something that I'm always worried about, of course. I know that I'm not my sharpest at the end of a weekend on call. Unfortunately, I know that there's no practicle way around it... so I just am extra-careful. Triple-check stuff instead of the normal double-checking. I'm happy about Kerrys' running-mate, John Edwards. He brings some personality into the race, I think. I did a CT on a girl today who had a T-shirt that said, in letters that looked like a ransom note, cut out with different fonts, "Give your life up for Jesus and nobody will get hurt". The implication is obvious: somebody's gonna get hurt it you don't do *it* their way, whatever *it* is and whatever their way might be. Yeah, I'm kinda like BabyBush: this freedom of speech shit has gone too far.... And it's a damned shame that stupidity isn't painful.
