26JUN2004...
14:44... Nice day, so far, and I expect it to stay that way.

I got to sleep late last nlght and slept a little late this morning. I'd at least remembered to turn the thermostat up a little before I went to bed, I didn't wake up shivering anyway. Karen went down for a morning swim and I tried to get the highspeed wireless internet working with the laptop... I could make the connection OK but I couldn't ged enough speed to load a web page... It would time out on me. Not that I need it for anything anyway.

After many phone calls to coordinate the three carloads of people , we made it to Deb and Rics' about noontime. Betty was already there and she seemed to be doing pretty well at that time.

Ric grilled a bunch of hot dogs for lunch and we had chips and salsa and a fruit salad. Chris and his beautiful wife Cat and their son Preston - named after his great-uncle (Karen's uncle who was killed on D-day) arrived, it was the first time that I met either him or his mother.

He's awfully cute, like all two-year-olds are. Right now, he and Jeff are playing catch-the-cat.

After lunch, Karen and I took Betty back to the adult care home, she had gone downhill pretty rapidly after lunch and was starting to cry and asking about Charles and her mom and dad. Karen told her that they were in heaven, and that wasn't what she wanted to hear, of course. We decided later that it was really better to lie... Since making her happy even momentarily with a lie was a good thing. Damned disease.

All of Karen's kids took all of the grandkids except Preston to the zoo... Wichita has a really good zoo. They'll be back in a coupla hours, then it'll be time to go clear across town to eat.

17:15...
Got some good news... We're *NOT* going across town for supper anyway, I don't know where I got that idea, but it was way off track.

Chuck's son Chad showed me his imac G4 laptop, and I was duly impressed... No, even more thah that. Jealous is probably a better word.
