Daily Nilknarf Haiku

Solstice, summers' here
And the heat builds, sun scorches
Autumn will be nice.

I did sleep well and long last night, got up about 09:30 or so, I think... really can't remember. It had rained yet again during the early morning hours.

I didn't get called until about 14:30, then again at 17:00, and yet again at 21:30 or so.

Weird weekend for call, it was....

Neither of the techs working can do contrast exams, but they can do the simple stuff, and that's usually our bread and butter, but not this weekend. Today they've done two exams, one each, while I've done four. Yesterday was about the same, only I think that the night guy did five total Friday and Saturday nights, and the day guy did three during his twelve-hour shift.

And three of the four patients that I did today had inadequate IVs, so I had to put new ones in. Major time sink, that. Not that I mind, really, it's just that, well, the nurses have instructions about how big of a tube is needed and where the IV can be situated. And they ignore that part of the protocol, just because they can. And what do I do? I let them get by with it, that's what I do, dammit.

Well, except for the last patient. The exam was ordered wrong, so they didn't know that it was an angiogram until the patient got to me and I was questioning him. So I really can't blame them for that one.

I spent a coupla hours today working on the lawn mower; no luck.

JD called me this evening whilst I was downstairs playing on the keyboard, and he got to hear some of my music, he said that he was impressed, but he wouldn't tell me even if it was horrible, especially not on fathers' day, heh. Anyway, he didn't hear it on purpose anyway, Karen snuck up behind me with the phone when he called and stood there for I don't know how long... I finally turned and saw her, or she touched my shoulder or something, I about jumped outta the chair. As always, it was good talking to him.

And now I'm way too wound up to go to bed, and it's passed the midnight hour, so I guess I'll go twinkle some keys at a reduced volume for a while....
