The uncaring storms Bad tard permeates my bones tonight... damned if I know why. Well, maybe it was sitting and watching that roundball game until 23:00 or so, y'reckon? And it's way too light out to go to bed successfully. The storm that hit Topeka Saturday night was what they call a microburst, and it lasted about ten minutes, they said. Measured velocity at Forbes was 70 MPH, but it might've been more than that at other points in the city. The damage was pretty spotty as I drove to work this morning. And work was the usual Monday; lots and lots of add-ons, but we made it through the day OK... well, I made it to 15:30 anyway, which is precisely when I stop counting when there are three other techs there. There was a picture on the front page of the paper this morning of my neighbor's sister cleaning up in front of his house, and the photographer had to be standing in our yard to get the angle. There's a line of storms lining up across Kansas right now, and Topeka is right in the middle of the line. The line appears to be stationary, with the storms sliding to the northeast. It looks like a train that could hit us. Yep, the sun has been blocked out by the clouds; so I could go to sleep now, right? Wrong! Dammit, I already missed one big storm, I'm not planning on sleeping through another good one! Eh, the weatherman said that they're dying down after dropping a bunch of rain and hail out further west of here. So I'll just pull the shades down in the bedroom and hide under the covers with my CPAP until I go to sleep, I guess. Karen will waken me if it starts getting hairy out there.
