Well, my reflexes are still pretty good... I came about ten feet from hitting a deer about 15 miles east of Enid. One of those things, I saw it out of the corner of my eye and then BAM! it was right in front of me. Hit the brakes hard (damn good brakes too, not a swerve at all!) and checked the rear-view mirror, hoping that the guy behind me was paying attention... he was. Damned lucky deer, damned lucky me. I got up this morning at 05:45, fifteen minutes late... but I hadn't even hit the snoozebar, just kept on sleeping for fifteen minutes, I guess. Didn't waken Karen either, of course. She's not a slave to alarm clocks, so she can ignore them with impunity. And yet another busy day at work. The only thing that was different about the day was that they took away the internet access. Seems that all of the other departments in radiology had screwed up and got theirs taken away for abuse, everybody but us. Well, gee, was that fair? Can't have shining examples of hard work and no play making everybody else feel bad, right? Just another example of the arbitrary decisions being made at my place of employment. And it doesn't really matter if it wasn't arbitrary, it sure *seems* to be arbitrary, and that's what they're getting judged on. Anyway, it doesn't much matter to me, like we're got time to play on the web? I don't think so. We mostly used it to look up stuff, like what kinda CT machines accommodate bariatric patients, what the usual routes of dissemination of a certain type of cancer is, what recommended dosages of certain drugs are, just piddly stuff like that. I took off a little after 15:30 and Karen and I were packed and about ready to load the car up when in the door comes Lacee bawling her little head off and making a scene. At first I thought that something bad had happened, but she was mad... at Karen. And I'm not really sure what it was all about, what I understood wasn't really all that interesting, though. So that was another 20 minutes or so wasted, and Karen upset. We were about halfway to Wichita when Karen's phone rang, and it was Lacee, of course. Apologizing, naturally. So I assume that they're best buddies again... Karen has the ability to forgive Lacee things that she wouldn't forgive anyone else. And, as Kim pointed out, Lacee is a drama queen. Who almost always gets her way, hey! Made a brief stop in Wichita to drop off Karen, and I really wanted to stay and eat with them, but I knew if I sat down I'd have a hard time getting up. Debbie fixed me a nice ham and cheese sandwich and I was on my way. And Mom is looking and doing well, and I'm happy to be down here with her.
