Tard.

I finally got to sleep about 04:00 last night. Shortly after I came home from the first call and put yesterdays' entry up, I got called again.

Looking for a pulmonary embolus in a 50-year old patient. Had to wait for the labs to come back, they didn't draw them until after I got there. Then the patient didn't have a good IV, had to start one. O'wait, that was on a patient that I did today, the ER patient did have a good IV, which surprised me.

Memory. It starts sliding when I'm sleep-deprived, it does.

Anyway, I got home at maybe 02:00 or so. Went to bed. Couldn't get to sleep. I woke Karen up about 03:30 for a backrub, but that didn't work either.

Got out of bed late. Called in, said I'd be a few minutes late, clocked in at 08:15 or so.

Nice day at work. Completely different from yesterday, the patients only came one at a time, and at a nice pace..

And since I came in late, I thought that I'd better leave early, so I left around 14:00. There was a window of opportunity there, so I checked with my co-workers and it was OK with them, there were only four patients on the horizon at that time. Came home and Karen was gone. Left a note to wake me up at 17:00. Karen tried, but it didn't work, I slept until 18:30.

Felt a whole lot better, but I don't think that I slept enough to keep me awake tonight. And contrary to yesterdays' statement, sleep is *NOT* over-rated, but the opposite.

I had a lot of trouble trying to DL a driver for Jodys' machine, I finally took out the NIC and put in one that I did have a driver for, a 3Com. Worked like a charm.

Called Jody after I got all of the stuff loaded on, and after supper. Karen made shish-kabobs, excellent. Jody came over and I showed him all the stuff that I'd installed, Zone-alarm and ad-aware and spybot. He's got a coupla days now to get everything set up, and I hope that it continues working.

We're going to visit our mothers this weekend, I'm gonna drop Karen off in Wichita to see Betty and I'm going on to Enid to see Mom. Betty's not doing very well, Karen talked to Debbie a little bit ago, and Betty's lost about 40 pounds in the last month and has fallen a coupla times. Doesn't sound good. She didn't weigh much more than 100 pounds to start with.

No progress on the shop. Karen left a nasty message on the voice mail yesterday, so we figgered that we'd hear something today, but no.

Beautiful weather here; windy, but beautiful. I'm anticipating the summer heat already, not looking forward to that at all.

I should just learn to enjoy the days as they come, heh. I'd be a much happier Doug if I'd do that, wouldn't I?
