Inevitable inability

Long day, but with a very pleasant evening.

Got up on time after a restless night, probably got about four hours of sleep.

And the first four hours of work were pretty much of a nightmare.

For one thing, the hospital lost power last night for about four hours... huh, I wonder if that was the same four hours that I was able to sleep? Quinkidink? No, it was a different four hours.

Systems all over the hospital were fubar, and the Z was down for the early part of the AM. And one of the techs had to leave to get a stress test done, leaving just two of us in the department for a while. Luckily, he got to come back to work, so things must've been OK with his heart.

The afternoon was somewhat better, since we had four tech there, and I was running the console. Unfortunately, the machine was pretty flaky today, and we had a major trauma come in and it crashed in the middle of that. Got everything done OK, but it was touch and go there for a while, machinery-wise.

Of course, the trauma put our schedule behind an hour or so, and I worked over about a half-hour.

I got home and went downstairs to relax and play some music, and Karen came down and said that someone was at the door and wanted to see me. I came back upstairs and the little girl whose cat had been killed yesterday wanted to know exactly where I found him. She's about ten or so, and had a little girlfriend with her, and they gabbed and gabbed while we were standing on the front porch. I finally excused myself and went back downstairs, and when I came back upstairs a little later, they were sitting in the living room, still gabbing with Karen. Cute little girls, but really gabby.

Karen and I were going out with Jody and Lee Ann, and I'd been looking forward to it for the last week. And we did have a lot of fun. We went to Lee Anns' house and admired her garden and her pond, she's got a relatively small back yard, but it's really a neat little place, she's put a lot of love and work into it.

We went to eat at the new steak house in town, the Texas Steak House, and we had to wait forty-five minuted for a table, but it was worth the wait. For one thing, we got to eat peanuts and gab during the wait, and when we were seated, the service was good. I had a sirloin and a sweet potato with marshmallows... loves them candied yams! Lotsa lotsa carbs there, folks, don't try that on the saccharine crowd, it's overdose time!

Well worth it, though. I did have a coupla pieces of bread to add to the carb load, but they were little pieces... with cinnamon butter, no less!

Everyone was happy with the place, and we will most likely go there again. Getting kinda tired of the outback, and this place is good competition for them.

Afterwards, we decided to play miniature golf, and we had a blast. Karen got the only hole-in-one, but I came close on numerous occasions. Jody came out the winner, then me, then Karen and then poor Lee Ann, but there were only ten points separating the high and the low. Not that we were being competitive, mind you, we were having a lot of fun.

The major drawback, and the blame for the closely-missed shots, was the wind. Pretty windy, it was. Blew your hair and distracted you from your shot, it did.

Finally, home again. I'm looking forward to getting to bed and sleeping, O, maybe twelve hours or so. Or even just eight, that would probably be better, I think.

Music-wise, tonight I DLed some sheet music, one that I've always loved, Fur Elise, and it's scary. All of those flats! Or maybe it was sharps. Are you supposed to memorize those things for each song? Or do they just designate the key? As I've said before, I've got a lot to learn, I do.

And I still really have no idea about that bass clef. I can't figger out where it starts on the keyboard, which leaves me at a big disadvantage. I should google "Reading Music For Dummies" and get it over with already. So much to learn, and so little time. Time, time, time, whatcha do to me....

Thanx for being here!
