Hard hot heat humidity Well, dammitallanyhoo, I forgot to write a haiku yesterday. I could lie and say that I just really *liked* the one from the day before, but I just couldn't do that. Last night was much like Sunday and Monday; no damned sleep. I guess what I need to do is just get so exhausted that I can't function, then I can sleep. Work was OK, another no-lunch day. Getting used to that too. I went out to Lowes and bought some vacuum hose for the hot tub so that I could empty it, tomorrow I'll work on cleaning it up. Nasty job, dammit, I always leave it until I can't handle stand to do it. Kim and the kids came over about fifteen minutes ago, they had a dog with them that they had found wandering the street north of PetSmart by the bowling alley. It's a yorkie, very recently groomed. Kim came into the computer room and whispered to me, "There's a cat dead on the street and I think that it's Lucky." I went out to look, and it wasn't Lucky (in more ways than one!), but a close look-alike. The dead cat had a collar, though, and the only cat that we have that'll put up with a collar is the most recent addition, Raisin. We were happy that it wasn't one of ours, but still sad because someone had lost their cat. Karen is walking up and down the street knocking on doors trying to find the owner. And I have the feeling that I'm not gonna be able to sleep tonight either, and I hope that's not one of those self-fulfilling prophesies.... Speaking of sleeping, I've really been spoiled by Karen, she gives me a nice backrub every night. However, nobody likes spoiled people, and the other night she said, "Am I going to have to do this the rest of my life?" and I said, "No, only the rest of mine..." which I thought was an excellent but rather sobering comeback. I was in the basement this evening playing on the keyboard and suddenly had a wild desire to pick up the guitar, which has been neglected for a week or so. And the *e* string was broken, and I didn't get my guitar fix after all. I'll go out tomorrow and get some new ones. And Mom once again has internet access... some way or another her ISP had screwed up the billing. Got them all straightened out, and hopefully they will stay straight for a while. I made sure that they had my name and number to contact with future problems.
