Veracity replete It was a good night, if you only count the quantity and quality of the obtained sleep; however, if you feel that actually getting out of bed on time counts for anything, it was a bad night. Yep, I snoozebarred for O about an hour, then I turned the alarm off. It was an accident, and I immediately turned it back on again. Yeah, that's right, it'll go off again tin the morning... but that blew the snoozebar dealie for today, it did. But my head didn't pick up on that at all, so I went back to sleep. Well, my head did tell me that something was wrong, without being very specific about it. Didn't keep the sleep from happening, anyways. So about 08:00, Karen asked me what time I was supposed to be at work, and I looked at the clock. Shit! Called in, showered and shaved and I was there by about 08:30 or so. But... sleeping in was nice. And since I'm only late about once a year, I don't really feel very guilty about it. And the rain didn't help any, it was an excellent day for sleeping. Well, they all are, as I used to say in my night-hawk days, O those night-hawk day and nights! Yep, rain. We got about two inches or so, I think, and it's not really over yet. And I looked on intellicast before I left work, it looks like JD and Tyler are getting some big thunderstorms, and so is Mom. And speaking of Mom, I just talked to her, and she sounded really good. I had kinda had in my head that we would go down there this weekend, but I really wasn't up to it, and she let me know that it was OK to stay home, just come down when you want to. One of the many reasons that I love her.... Anyways, work was work. Kinda slack until lunchtime, and then it was definitely a no-luncher after that onslaught. Got off almost on time, so I really did get in my eight today, even with being late. 21:11... Not that I'm not still working on my other music, mostly the keyboard, but this provides an immediate pleasure that I've been missing. Karen just had to go on an emergency run with Lacee for something that she needs for school tomorrow, she said that she'd tell me all about it when she got back, but I told her that I'd be in bed by then most likely. Beheading. Horrible to contemplate, isn't it? The first depiction of beheading that I ever saw was in a movie when I was a kid, something about the French revolution, I think. And it is that very horror that terrorists of every ilk have embraced since time began. Millienia of progress? No, it's still here. And it still strikes terror into our hearts. I remember as a kid at Adams grade school we were shown movies of German Jews being executed with a rifle shot in the back of the head. The victim would tumble into a pit and the next one would kneel there to be shot. I think that I was in the third or fourth grade then, and that was pretty horrible. And it didn't impress me that these were Germans, but that these were people behaving inhumanely towards other people. As a whole, we're done with the industrial revolution and well into the electronic revolution, shouldn't we be able to think about human rights now? If we quit fighting all of these fucking wars, we have the resources to feed and clothe and educate and shelter the world. And what's stopping us? People who think like BabyBush, that's what. And he's not the problem, there are millions out there who think like him. And, being good civil and human rights people, we can't really go out and kill all of them and expect a kinder, gentler world now, can we? So what other way is there to end greed and selfishness and lust for power? For those are the factors (among others) that breed wars. OK, just a short rant today. Luckily, the religious people haven't foisted any outrageous stuff on our newswaves lately, but I'm due for an anti-religion rant soon anyway, and even if they don't give me a reason I'll think on one, you know I will. O Larry? I've lost your email addy, and you asked me some questions that I didn't answer, email me again, OK?

I've found a new way of having fun with a computer... Karaoke. Yep, that's what I said. The really neat thing about it? I get to look at all of those MIDI files and hopefully learn some tricks. Plus it's just fun in itself, having the music playing and the words scrolling on the screen.
