Simplicity extended into Yet another bad night, but I probably got about five hours of sleep in. Soon, I will encounter a breakdown of some sort, I'm sure. I'm hoping that it will be 16 hours of straight sleep. As opposed to gay sleep, of course. My dear brother has finally come around to my way of thinking re: Babybush. About damned time! On the other hand, he is not beyond sarcasm, and I'm pretty clueless in detecting same. But he did say, in the very next paragraph, "More seriously..." On the *other* other hand, Karen and I had a long talk tonight re:politics and BabyBush, and I really *do* think that she's seeing the light. The light over America, right now, is pretty damned dim. Busy day at work, but I did get to do a fun biopsy at least. Well, fun for me anyway, funner than actually working. And hey! I've been doing really good about not complaining about being tard, haven't I? Well, I have to say... that I don't really have too much else to say tonight. Just for the helluvit, here's a post that I made to a Three-way-action Forum:
Human rights issues are *not* political, dammit. It's not a political issue, it's an issue for everyone that's *human*. Yeah, it does have some political fallout, as almost every issue does, but it doesn't matter who the titular head of the government is when violations occur, they must take action to both punish the wrong-doers and insure that violations don't recurr. The political climate that allows such violations also needs to be cured, naturally. Saddam simply had to go. Hitler had to go. Pinochet had to go. You know the names, and you all know the role that we had in making them go. You might even know the names of those still in power, those who still have no respect for human lives. War is dirty, and blood must be spilled, that's the name of the game. But beyond that? People should be treated as people... as you and I want to be treated. The world court, which BabyBush decided that we shouldn't participate in, could be a big help here. The United Nations, sullied as its reputation might be, could be a big help here. It's not political. It's humanity. And it's civilization that we're talking about. Because uncivilized people, they don't care, they just care about themselves. And us? USA? World leaders in morality? We're supposed to care, dammit. I am admittedly unabashedly anti-bush, yes, but I am fiercely pro-American, and what *we* are doing to our country is shameful. I just really hate to think that we're no better than the rest of the world, y'know? Heh, filler material. 'Cause I hate having to repeat myself.
