Days, not without end A long hard day, it was. I was in the scan room today, and we were fairly busy. We were fully staffed in the AM, but the other late tech left at 13:00. Had some challenging patients, and that's where the fun is these days. O'well hell, that's *always* been where the fun is for me. I don't do boring well, and it seems that my life has been pretty boring lately, dammit. My main challenge outside of work has been with the music programs, and I'm almost thinking that I need to get another music computer, 'cause the programs that I want to keep running all the time don't play well together. C*base will not do audio output if *anything* else on the system has access to the sound card, it wants it all to itself. Greedy damned thing. I need to re-arrange my studio so that I can access both keyboards at the same time, right now it's a real pain, and so I don't use them both unless I absolutely have to... what I really need to do is get a keyboard stand (or build one) that'll let me do that. And if I had a shop, that would be no problem at all, I know exactly how to build one. The shop, the shop! It's coming soon, it is. Y'know, it's much harder to fill up this space since I quit talking about how tard I am. I've wasted a lot of electrons on that, haven't I? Speaking of which, I called the nurse who's the expert on the defibrillator that I have, she told me that no, the heart rate is paced constantly at 60 BPM, and there's no way that it could be waking me up at night, or even disturbing my sleep at all. Dammit, I thought that I had an answer. They do have pacers that can be set to a lower rate at night, but not this one, it just paces. I need to go hook myself up to my EKG monitor (yes I do have one!) and see what it looks like, so I'll have a baseline, I haven't done that since I got this thing implanted. Which reminds me, I need to have a name for my machine. Shit, both JD and Annette both named their new cars, and this machine probably cost twice what their combined total was, so it needs a name! O'Goodie! An internet naming contest! Kinda like "Name my baby!" only different. OK. Write me and put "Name that Machine!" in the subject line, and I'll announce a winner by, ummmm... next Tuesday. I do like meaningful short names that reflect, uh, spontaneity, reflectivity and sarcasm? But I really don't like diminutives, and I really don't like "sparky". I took Thursday off, I did, and I'm really planning on sleeping all day long, that's what I'm a-gonna do, it is. And now I'm gonna work on Patrick's computer, get him going again, he's really chaffing at the old bit here, wanting some bits and bytes. 20:32... And speaking of our eroding freedoms, a local official today decided that the first amendment didn't apply for the "Brown vs Topeka Board of Education" ceremony. Yep, no more freedom of speech here in Topeka. It seems that there are going to be several "White Power" groups demonstrating... but not in sight of the ceremonies. Well, dang, I really though that the constitution and its' amendments we here permanantly and always and forever? Well, I knew better'n that, what with the patriot act and all... but why, then, can't we suspend it for Fred Phelps' hooligans, who are here on an everyday basis? I've got an 07:00 dentist appointment in the morning, so I better get to bed. And Friday, if I don't feel *much* better after a day's rest, I'll make an appointemnt to see my regular GP doc. This feeling old is getting old.

Well, I didn't work on Patrick's computer, I watched that SOB BabyBush instead. Amazing.
