Valient effort, great strife
Will not guarantee happy life
Calm reflection might.

Long day again, and I'm dead tard, I am.

Got up about 07:30 once again, been up ever since then. We've made several trips to the other house, and I got the outlet hooked up for the computer in Mom's future bedroom. And I found a coupla cans of O'doul's (non-alcoholic beer) that Karen and I had left in Mom's refrigerator a coupla years ago. Still tasted bad.

I had a problem getting the hole drilled in the outside wall, but I finally went to Big Lots and found a coupla long drill bits that I thought might work. The first one didn't, and I was really hesitant about using the second one, a 3/8 inch bit used for brace and bit boring, and those can be dangerous used with a single-speed drill. Luckily the drill was underpowered and didn't break my arm. I was very careful and it almost got away from me several times, but I persevered, I did. Today's picture is of Mom's new house.

The neighbor lady, who looks after Mom really well, offered to steam-clean the carpets, so she did that this afternoon. That was really so nice of her. Mom has lived her life in such a way that people are almost *always* nice to her, just in appreciation of her. I think that she's been that way all of her life.

And a big surprise... said neighbor's daughter, a junior in HS (along with her twin brother [non-identical, of course]) is going to have her class come over next Tuesday and help Mom finish up moving.

Mom's got a guy from her church who is doing the major moving, but the kids will finish up the light stuff and the lawn equipment and hopefully hang pictures, etc. And of course, the kids get out of school for this "community project". I think that's really cool, both that they would do it and that the school will let them out to do it.

Meals today: McD's for breakfast again, then I went to the store and got some ham and cheese and some bread and Fritos and some chocolate milk. Supper was KFC takeout.

After we finished supper, we went back over to the little house and I took a shower. One of the disadvantages of visiting Mom has always been the lack of a shower, I really don't like taking baths at all. So that's a good thing.

And Mom told me today that it would be at least two years before she would consider moving back to Topeka. O'well, I can't have everything, can I?

I'm getting addicted to Dave Letterman, I'm gonna have to stop that. We watched Joan of Arcadia tonight, that's a cute show, even for an atheist, heh.

These last few days have convinced me that I was thinking right when I decided to not go back to work on Thursday, I'm just worn out, and my scar has started hurting me for some dumb reason. If it continues, I think that I'll get some more antibiotics, I would hate to think that it might be infected, although that's really unlikely at this point in time.

And it's *way* past my bedtime here, almost 23:30. And we lose an hour's sleep, which just means that I'll get up at 08:30 instead of 07:30.

Thanx for being here!
