Carry that baggage Hard hard day, but a very nice evening. There were two biopsy procedures today in the morning, so a good part of the morning we were running with only two of us. We kept up, but just barely. This afternoon, at least, we did have three of us on. I stopped at a convenience store and bought cigars on the way home, dammit. I'd been thinking all day about how nice it would be to have a cigar, just one. But, y'know, it just doesn't work that way. We went over to Lee Ann's and had dinner with her and Jody, and that was very nice. Jody had bought both Lee Ann and Karen bouquets, showing me up quite handily. Which means, of course, that I'm gonna have to figger out something to trump that next time we get together... I better start thinking now, heh. We had a really nice meal and good conversation throughout, I really enjoy both of them and so does Karen. Unfortunately, I started tapering off really fast about 22:00, but when we got home I lost my sleepiness and now I'm just tard, but wired. I did have a cuppa coffee, so I can blame that, I guess. But I also had two glasses of wine, which should counteract the coffee, right? Yesterday as I was leaving the hospital, I noticed several women leaving at the same time, talking on their cell phones, and I had a brilliant idea. But I need to explain the backstory a little bit. Kansas is considering a concealed-carry law again this session. Concealed carry is about handguns, of course, and the idea is that if a criminal knows that people may be legally armed, s/he will not commit a crime. And yeah, that kinda makes sense, in a way. For instance, I would never carry a gun, but I like the idea that a criminal would thing that I could be. S/he would then have to decide if the crime was worth the risk of getting killed by my gun, which he can't see but he suspects that I might have. How could s/he ever be sure? In short, I think that it's a good idea. OK, women on cell phones. If a woman is talking on a cell phone, or even pretending to with a phone that doesn't work, a would-be abductor would have to think long and hard about who she's talking to. Is it her mother, or her cop boyfriend in the police cruiser two blocks away? He would also have to think that, even if the victim didn't have time to call 911, the person that she's talking to would. So, the ubiquitous cell phone can become a deterrent to crime, in much the same way that a concealed weapon could be.
If you must; it's yours to lose.
It's hard to choose.
