Inscrutable frog, please I got my first (and only, so far) call at midnight. Simple, fast exam. I'm not really sure that I ever went completely to sleep, I was awake somewhat when the phone rang. I certainly don't feel like I slept four hours, but if I hurry, I can sleep another four. Much of that time was spent writing haiku in my head and wishing that I could get it written down without leaving bed or opening my eyes. Alas, it's all gone now. I did have a little bowl of lite ice cream, and I'm shivering as I write; I should'a known better, but the warm bed beckons. 19:24. And the morning went really well; one of the former evening techs who had done CTs came over to help out, and it was a nice, leisurely morning. We did get a bunch of patients done, but no stress. Our helper tech had to leave about 13:00 when the afternoon/evening CT tech came on, and things started picking up. I convinced the other tech that she could leave, since she normally leaves at 13:00, and she'd already stayed until 14:30. And then it was just steady humping until about 16:30 when I left. There were still a coupla patients left to do, but nothing coming down the pike, so I made my escape. Just got out of the shower, and I'm ready to catch a few Zs between now and 21:30, which is when I'll most likely get my first call, the afternoon/evening tech leaves about then. However, it is a cold Friday night, and the thirteenth to boot, so maybe people will stay at home and not go out and hurt themselves and other people. But the people who are honestly sick will be with us always. Well, not really, they sometimes die, but there's always someone in line right behind them, heh. OK, bad joke, you know what I mean.
Look at me then, as you croak;
You have delectable legs
The second (and last) time that I got called was at 05:45, when I should have been getting up anyway. But I was snoozebarring, and I felt like I had no sleep at all since I went to bed at 01:30. I had just one patient to do, and I was done by 06:30, so I started on the day's tasks.
