Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

10:58 PM 1/24/04 Enid, Oklahoma

It has been a thoroughly pleasant day here in Enid.

We woke up kinda late, about 08:30, and we were supposed to meet Jesse and Brenda at 09:30, so there was some hurrying done. We did get there about on time, even though the fog was really thick, and I only had a general idea of where the Golden Corral was located. As we arrivid, we saw Jesse out front smoking; he has cut way down, from three packs a day to about 3 packs a week, he says.

We did have a pleasant breakfast, sitting in the smoking section, but neither of us smoked in the restaurant.

We came home and just sat around gabbing with Mom, watching stuff on the public station here, which carries a lot more nature stuff than the one in Topeka does, makes me wonder. It just seems odd, I guess.

Later in the afternoon, we went out to the store, Mom and Karen to the grocery store and me to K-Mart, to get rubber cement and a battery and some wood glue, the latter I was planning on using to fix a chair of Mom's, but I'm afraid that's gonna have to wait for another trip.

And the battery was for her exercise machine, which did get put in, but the damned thing still doesn't work. It's just the monitor that has a timer and rep reporter, pretty simple, and the function is still there, but just barely lights it up, but if you push both buttons, the on/off and the selector button it lights up just fine, so I don't know what's up with that.

And the rubber cement? Mom collects those new quarters, and they won't stay in the albums that she got for that purpose, they're just supposed to snap in, but they fall right back out, so a dab of rubber cement should take care of that.

The two clerks that I asked about rubber cement in K-Mart were totally dumfounded by my request, so I went up and down every likely-looking aisle, and I finally found some in a tube in the auto section. Well, that really wasn't what she wanted, but I got it anyway.

Then I went back to the grocery to see how they were doing and whilst walking the aisles with Mom I spied what I *really* wanted, rubber cement in a bottle with an applicator.

We came home and put stuff away and then tried to decide where to go for supper, settling on Braum's. Good hamburgers, and of course I got a small malt. Yeah, I know, I know. However, I didn't bring my glucometer with me, so it doesn't count. Additionally, I've been really pretty good lately, so there. Shaddup.

I slept well last night, I think, and I plan to sleep well tonight too. And Monday I'm gonna take the CPAP harness back to the people at Apria and get one where the velcro works. Either that or get a coupla safety pins. That is, if I can find the tab, but I'm sure that it's laying on the bed.

We're going to leave fairly early in the AM, hoping to get to Wichita and get loaded up and back to Topeka before the bad part of the storm hits. I'm going to check the forecast and the radar when I get on-line to email this to myself in a few minutes.

Thanx for being here!
