Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

Heh. I forgot to put my blurb on the 3WA board last night, and guess what happened?

Nobody came to read yesterday's entry, that's what happened.

That's not exactly right, though. But my hits were down by 2/3rds.

What is the meaning of all of this?

Well, for you people on 3WA, the meaning is pretty clear: I'm not dependable to post there.

The remedy, of course, is to join the reminder list. It's free, it's fun, and it's simply one-way, I think. And not highly populated, but I don't know that for sure, I decided about a year ago that I would never look at who's on it.

Not that I'm a hit slut, or anything.

I've always been jealous of those journallers who occasionally say, "Welcome to the new list member!" I doubt that I've had any new list members for a coupla years.

And, since I do update daily, it's just a reminder list that has the URL, no comments usually. Well, maybe twice a year I'll tell them something that's not in the entry, but it's not a regular thing, y'know?

OK, enough about meta-culture.

I went to bed at about 18:30 last night, I'm not really feeling right, but I'm surely not really, really well. Got up on time, of course, showered, shaved, went to work.

O'yeah, I weighed myself, down another five pounds after being static for the last two months. That was a good thing. Next report will be hitting 200. Two months, tops.

Busy day at work, but we had a full crew. I was in the scanner room and that was cool, as it almost always is. And I had an APC committee meeting this afternoon, and we're making progress, I think. Sometime I'll have to explain the "Kindness Connects" program more fully in here, but it's cool and I like the idea and I'm gonna do everything I can to make it work.

After work, I went over to see Melaine, a good friend from work, (she's also very pretty and smart) to try to get her set up on MSN again. I had worked some on her computer before xmas, as I had mentioned here, with no luck. She had used MSN before, but it pretty much flaked out on her, and last time I tried to re-establish it with no luck. So she'd got the new disk in the mail, and we gave it another try. No luck. Called the help number, and I could just barely understand the guy, and it really sounded like he really didn't know what he was up to but was reading from a screen.

But, as instructed, I deleted all of the files that he told me to and then we tried it again. Same results.

But... when it would connect with MSN, it gave the rate at something below 24K, and I think that her phone lines are the problem. I went out back and tightened the connections on the lines to no avail, however, which means that the problem is either in the house or the incoming line. And the incoming line is probably at least 50 years old, and the house wiring is older than that.

So I've got my hopes set that she will go with cable... she has a friend with cable and she was going to go see how that worked tonight. I'm pretty sure that once she sees cable, that's what she'll want to do.

And if it isn't, I'll offer to re-do her internal phone lines.

She gave me a gift certificate for helping her, from timberline. I haven't gotten around to telling her that a good backrub is all I really want, heh.

I got my microphone and tuner from Musician's friend tonight, kinda surprised me it was so quick. And I ordered the wrong cables for the mike, of course, so I need to get an adaptor, or maybe I'll just buy the right cords and give the others away to someone who has a PA system.

Karen is still in Wichita, we've had a little change in plans... I'll be driving the truck down tomorrow, then we'll go to Enid on Friday AM, come back on Monday and pick up the truck (and Karen's Mom's dining room table) and then coming back. At any rate, the end result is: you won't be hearing from me again until Monday night.

Just another reason to get on the reminder list, heh.

Thanx for being here!
