Of all of the things that I have said here that people could take umbrage with, I very seldom hear a peep. However, clear out of left field, I got hit with an email the other day that really made me wonder. It was May of 2002 when I told the old hare-lip/wood eye story. So today, at 02:27, I get the following (I didn't correct the spelling):
"Move into the next century dinsaur, Do you actually make any money by telling old harelip jokes?, or are you just a small minded looser who does it for free, and has nothing better to do?" And I'm like, "OK, Timmy m'boy, I see right where you're coming from. Or maybe not. But what are you doing at 02:30 in the AM writing a stranger about an 18-month-old journal entry? Somebody needs a life, heh." Now I'm not really sure if he was upset about my telling the hare-lip joke, or if he has a hare-lip or loves someone who does, or if he's just pissed that I'm alive. Anyway, on to the important things of the day; I got up on time, I did, got to work 30 minutes early, clocked in to do a patient 15 minutes early and left a half-hour late. And it was, all in all, a pretty horrible day. One tech was off, and I had to do a rather lengthy procedure on the Z, a stereotactic localization of a brain lesion. Pretty cool, kinda like doing a regular needle localization, only it's done in surgery after the lesion is visualized and plotted. The neurosurgeons don't want to do the whole procedure under CT guidance, I guess, although that makes more sense to me. They would rather do them in a surgical suite. Anyway, that left only two people in the department to do a patient load that takes four techs, and we never really caught up from that until after I left at 16:00 or so. O'yeah, additionally, after the PT tech left at 13:00, one of the other FT techs had a doc's appointment and was gone for two and a half hours... once again leaving two people doing the work of four. The end result of all of this is, of course, well-documented in these pages. I'm tard, damned tard. I'm on call tonight, since it's Monday, and I'm hoping that the night tech doesn't call in sick or something like that, heh. The Iowa Caucuses are tonight, and I'm really having trouble figuring out why they're important. But I'm willing, just in the spirit of things, to go beyond my "Anybody *but* BabyBush" stance; I would love to see a Dean/Kerry ticket. We'll see what happens.
