As I had feared, the mighty Chiefs came tumbling down. In a word, their defense sucked. Well, OK, that's three words. And I spelled defense "defence" originally, probably from seeing those big signs, one guy holding up "DE" and the next guy holding up a picket fence. Sad, to see everything gone for them. It was a close game all of the way, though. It was probably decided on a turnover by the Chief's running back in the third quarter that, had it not occurred, would have tied the score. O'well, that's football. Maybe they can manage to put together a defense by next year. The rest of the day, well, I haven't done much. Tried to figger out what might be the matter with the clutch on the truck and found absolutely nothing. Makes no sense whatsoever to me. I don't know what I'm gonna do about it. I've been irritated by the anti-smoking people for years, knowing that they were using lies to get their point across. No, I'm not just talking about people who are anti-smoking, I'm pretty much one of those myself, despite smoking a little bit. I'm talking about the nannies who think that everyone should do what *they* want them to do. Of particular interest to me is the second-hand smoke scare. Especially the lies promoted by our very own government. Please go to http://www.davehitt.com/facts/ and please follow the links there for verification. The faulted EPA study has been used for years to discriminate against smokers and demote them to second or even third-class citizens. That is just plain wrong. And so I find myself in at least two groups who are looked down upon (safely, I must add) by the majority of our citizens: I'm a smoker and an atheist. And I'm not really gonna back down on either issue. As you know, I did quit smoking for two years. I don't really know why I started again, but I did. Even while I was stopped, though, I really felt that the anti-smokers were way out of line with their wanting to change laws and ordinances and taxes in ways detrimental to smokers. Y'see, these people aren't against smoking... if they were, they would work to outlaw tobacco companies and all forms of tobacco use. But they aren't against smoking, not really. No, they just need someone to feel superior to, and the former targets of this mindset, blacks and homosexuals and furriners of all sorts, are no longer politically correct targets. Smokers are politically correct targets, though. And just like they made up lies about gays and blacks and furriners, they're making up lies about smokers. And they're getting the gummint to help them out. Biases are cruel things to tolerate. Bigots of any ilk are cruel, miserable people. Danger from Second-Hand-Smoke is a straw man, smoke (heh) and mirrors and lies. Promoted by bigots. Bigots, I might add, of the worst kind: bigots with numbers, bigots with power. Bigots who ignore the constitution, bigots who ignore common sense, bigots who righteously hate. I just found out a little while ago that the FT tech who was supposed to come in at 07:00 in the AM is sick, so I've gotta get up at 05:30, so I need to cut this short. Well, just one other thing... Jody taught me something last night about guitar-playing... I've gotta change my left-hand fretting. I've always supported my fingers with my palm on the back of the neck, and I need to start using my thumb. That's gonna be hard, but I've gotta do it in order to do what I want to do. 44 years of doing it wrong is gonna be tough to change, heh.
