Man, I wasn't planning on working this long or this hard today. I just got home (for the second time) and I am truly draggin' ass. The day started off OK, like, I got up outta bed more or less on time. I'd taken a shower before I went to bed, so I didn't need to worry about that anyway. Mid-morning, however, the Synapse system (our PACS) went down hard. And stayed down. So we did the fall-back procedures like we were supposed to, and everything limped along. But the evening CT tech is on vacation, and, uh, who's on call on Mondays? Yers truly, of course. So I was there doing patients until about 20:00, and Synapse finally came up, so I had to upload all of todays' exams to the system. So I left about 21:00, when the night tech came in. I went to Walgreens to get a BP med that I'd forgotten to order yesterday and then I came home. Karen greeted me at the door with the news that I needed to call the hospital. So I called, and there was a patient that needed a Circle of Willis exam done, and the night tech had never seen one done. But I only had to do it if the regular CT head was negative. So I waited, and finally the call came and I needed to go in and do the exam. So I put my shoes back on and went in, and did the best exam of this kind that I've ever done, it was simply beautiful. And I also did some excellent post-processing... the radiologist, who has been around quite a while, said that it was the best that he'd ever seen. So I got to come home... Karen is already in bed, and I'm getting this sent up then I'm headed in that direction too. And no, I'm still not completely well, I feel like an old, old man who's been beaten on, again, with hot, wet towels. No, make that hawsers, yeah, hawsers sounds better. Y'know, them big thick ropes that they use on ships? Two more days on, then one off, and then I'm gonna volunteer to take some weekend call... 'cause I missed out on a lot of money last weekend when I was sick. But we're still gonna get out to some bar and listen to some music, yes we are.
