Natterings, Notions
and
Notes

It has been a long, eventful and pretty pleasant day.

Mostly 'cause I did get a really good night's sleep.

It didn't start off that way, however. After I went to bed I noticed water dripping on my face. I could ignore it for a coupla minutes, but that was it. It was the humidifier for my CPAP leaking, and it's on the bookcase headboard directly over my head.

So I got up and tried to fix it, looking in the kitchen for the superglue gel that I *know* is in there somewhere. I pulled out every drawer, in the meantime trying to keep Callie out of them. There's another story about that, but it's Karen's story, and I'll save it for later.

So I wound up fixing it partly with electrical tape, and then I sat it on a towel and then I promptly went to sleep until about 04:00, and then I laid there enjoying not getting up until 06:45.

Work wasn't too bad today, I was in the room and I was on my feet much of the day, but it was OK. I called the place that sold me the CPAP and they said that they'd replace the humidifier unit, just come and get it.

We had a slow period about 11:15 or so, and I called the employee health nurse about my hands. They're much better now, but I thought that I'd better get it on record. And then she insisted that I go see the doc in urgent care who does workman's comp cases, so it wound up taking more than an hour.

And the doc said no, that's not a latex allergy, it's from washing your hands too much, don't do that any more, use the alcohol-based cleaner that we have here.

But doc, that stuff hurts like hell on these open wounds!

Yeah, so what.

He gave me a lotion to apply four times daily, something like super bag balm, and it's just like pure lard. But I'll try it for a coupla weeks and see what happens.

O'yeah, the said to avoid latex, yeah, covering all of the bases. And of course, I've *been* avoiding latex, and I'm getting better, even while I continued washing my hands fifty times a day. Avoiding latex was my idea, and it's working just fine, doc.

However, officially, the hospital has said that I *don't* have a latex allergy, and that pretty well covers their asses, doesn't it?

So anyways, I got off on time and went out to get the humidifier, and there was no problem there at all.

Kim, who was kidless tonight, came over and I came up with the bright idea that we should go out to the Outback, since I hadn't had a steak for a long, long time. So we did, and the steak was wonderful and the company was wonderful, and even if they are a coupla Bush's bitches, I enjoy being around Karen and Kim.

And just because I got a good night's sleep last night doesn't mean that I can't do it again tonight, although that's not been my pattern lately.

After all, I *do* have a brand new CPAP humidifier!

O'wait! I do need to tell Karen's story.

After I had gone to bed, Karen was in the kitchen, and she noticed that one of the drawers was pulled out. She pushed it back in again, and she couldn't figger out why raisin (what I've decided to call the kitten) was mewling about. She pushed another drawer in, but it wouldn't go very well, and she heard something inside the cabinet. Well, she was thinking about o'possums, I guess, and she didn't connect the noise with a cat. But she finally did, and opened the cabinet and out comes Callie, acting offended, I'm sure.

And the whole thing reminded Karen of the cat in the dryer.

And now I'm off to sleep, perchance to dream?

Thanx for being here!
